Top Realtors in Tiburon, CA (2026 Guide)
By Matthew Martinez, Founder, CEO & Managing Broker, Diamond Real Estate Group. California DRE #01869679.
Disclosure: This guide is published by Diamond Real Estate Group, one of the brokerages listed. Our own broker is listed first so you know who wrote it. Every other agent is listed alphabetically; the order is not a ranking, and inclusion is not an endorsement.
For Tiburon, look for an agent who knows the peninsula’s own rules: Town design review for most exterior work, tree permits that can affect views, a separate fire district and a sewer inspection at sale. This guide, new for 2026, lists licensed agents whose profiles say they serve Tiburon, each linked to a state license record.
Homes in the 94920 ZIP, which also takes in Belvedere, sold for a median of $3,545,966 in the three months to August 2026, up 10.8% from a year earlier (Redfin).
How we chose the agents in this guide
We started with agents active in Tiburon and kept only those we could verify: a current California real estate license on the Department of Real Estate public lookup (checked October 2026), a named brokerage, and a public profile that names Tiburon, a nearby town or the county among the areas they serve, or an office in the area. We don’t rank agents or report sales volumes, reviews or awards. Areas and specialties are as shown on each agent’s public profile or directory listing; we link profiles on agent and brokerage sites, not ranking or review sites. License status and brokerages change, so check the DRE record before you hire anyone, and interview more than one agent.
Tiburon’s market in 2026
| Census measure | Tiburon |
|---|---|

| Land area | 4.48 sq mi |
| Median home value (owner-occupied) | $2,000,000+ |
| Owner-occupied homes | 74.9% |
| Median gross rent | $3,500+ |
| Median household income | $232,969 |
| Mean commute | 29.2 min |
Census QuickFacts, 2020-2024 estimates.
Tiburon has about 8,900 residents on 4.48 square miles, and 74.9% of its homes are owner-occupied, a higher share than any other Marin town in our Census data. The Census reports the median owner-occupied value only as “$2,000,000+”.
Activity picked up this year. Redfin counted 56 sales in August, up from 41 a year earlier, and the median time to sell fell to 27 days from 44. The sale-to-list ratio was 101.3%, 38.9% of homes sold above list, 15.1% of listings had price cuts, and the median price per square foot was $1,330 (Redfin). At these prices, a few waterfront or view sales can move any average, so the specific comparable sales matter more than ZIP-wide figures.
Commuting by ferry from downtown Tiburon
Golden Gate Ferry took over the Tiburon to San Francisco commute run from Blue & Gold Fleet and began weekday service on March 6, 2017, the district’s first service expansion in Marin County in 40 years (Golden Gate Ferry route history). Boats leave from the Tiburon Ferry Landing at the foot of Tiburon Boulevard, which has paid public lots nearby and metered street parking (Golden Gate Ferry terminals and parking). The route’s current schedule took effect April 13, 2026 (Golden Gate Ferry routes).
Tiburon rules that affect what you can buy, build or rent
- Design review: the Town generally requires it for any addition or exterior remodel, new homes, accessory structures, fences or retaining walls over 3 feet or outside setbacks, and tree alterations or removals. Staff can approve additions under 500 square feet; larger ones go to the Design Review Board (Town of Tiburon: design review).
- Trees: a permit is needed to remove or alter protected trees, including heritage trees more than 60 inches around and six native oak species. In single-family zones, planting a species the Town classes as undesirable, such as blue gum eucalyptus, Monterey pine, Monterey cypress or coast redwood, also takes a permit (Town of Tiburon: tree permits).
- Hillside building: a soils report is generally needed for construction on slopes of 10% or more (Town of Tiburon: FAQ).
- Rentals: the Town’s FAQ says all rentals must be for 30 days or more, so nightly vacation rental income isn’t an option (Town of Tiburon: FAQ).
- Sewer lateral: Sanitary District No. 5, which serves Belvedere and the part of Tiburon east of Gilmartin Drive, requires a lateral inspection when a property is bought or sold, under Ordinance 2014-02a, in effect since March 4, 2015. Laterals installed or replaced within 20 years, or inspected within three years with repairs made, are exempt.
- Fire district: the Tiburon Fire Protection District protects the Town, the City of Belvedere and the surrounding area, while homes west of Trestle Glen Boulevard are likely served by Southern Marin Fire (Town of Tiburon: fire district). The district asks for 100 feet of defensible space in three zones (Tiburon Fire: defensible space) and offers an address lookup for hazard zones (Tiburon Fire: hazard zones).
- Wildfire tax: Tiburon isn’t among the Marin Wildfire Prevention Authority‘s member agencies, and Tiburon and Belvedere voters were excluded from the 2020 Measure C count (Marin Wildfire Prevention Authority: Measure C).
- Transfer tax: Tiburon sales pay the county’s $0.55 per $500, with no town tax listed on the county’s form (Marin County Assessor-Recorder).

What to ask a Tiburon agent
- Ask how they value a view. Where the median is above $3.5 million, ask which sales they’d compare and how they adjust for water views, slope and parking.
- Ask what the Town would let you change. If you plan to add on, the agent should know when work stays with staff and when it goes to the Design Review Board.
- Ask about trees on and near the lot, since protected-tree and permit rules can limit both landscaping and view work.
- Ask which sewer and fire districts serve the address and what each requires before or after closing.
- If you’ll commute, ask about the ferry schedule and parking near the landing.
- Check the license through the DRE link, and ask how many peninsula sales the agent has handled recently.

Tiburon buyer and seller questions
Can I rent out a Tiburon home short term?
No. The Town’s FAQ says all rentals must be 30 days or longer.
Is there a ferry from Tiburon to San Francisco?
Yes. Golden Gate Ferry runs a Tiburon to San Francisco route from the landing at the foot of Tiburon Boulevard; check the current schedule before you count on a commute time.
Do I need permission to cut a tree that blocks my view?
Often. Heritage trees, native oaks and other protected trees need a Town permit to remove or alter, and tree work is part of design review.
Does Tiburon flood?
The Town says some areas may be especially vulnerable to tidal flooding and high water. It points owners to FEMA’s flood maps and the Marin County natural hazards map, and keeps self-serve sandbags at Blackie’s Pasture overflow parking (Town of Tiburon: flood preparedness).
