Napa Valley has three main certified farmers markets: downtown Napa on Saturdays year-round and Tuesdays from April to December, St. Helena on Fridays from May to October, and Calistoga on Saturdays. Go early for the best produce, and bring a bag and small bills.

These markets are where many locals do their weekly shopping. They are also an easy way for visitors and newcomers to get a feel for each town.

We checked each market’s schedule in October 2026. Hours and seasons can change, so confirm on the market’s own site before you go.

The markets at a glance

Napa Farmers Market (downtown Napa)

The largest market in the valley runs at the city parking lot on West Street, a short walk from First Street shops and restaurants. It is open Saturdays year-round, rain or shine, and Tuesdays from April through late December, from 8 a.m. to noon.

  • CalFresh: The market doubles CalFresh benefits on fruits and vegetables through Market Match.
  • Extras: Chef demonstrations and programs for WIC participants and seniors run through the season.
  • Pets: Pets are not allowed; trained service animals are welcome.
  • Weather: The market sends closure alerts for extreme weather through its email list.

St. Helena Farmers Market

St. Helena’s market sets up in Crane Park on Friday mornings from May through October, from 7:30 a.m. to noon, rain or shine. It is a seasonal, mostly local crowd, and the shade trees make it a pleasant summer stop.

Arrive early in peak summer. Parking near Crane Park fills by mid-morning. The market is a short drive from Main Street, so it pairs well with coffee downtown. For more on the town, see St. Helena real estate.

Calistoga Farmers Market

Calistoga’s Saturday market runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Sharpsteen Plaza on Washington Street, next to the Sharpsteen Museum. The city’s event calendar lists it weekly through the year, with a break on July 4, 2026.

It is a small market with produce, baked goods and prepared food. Combine it with a walk down Lincoln Avenue. For homes in the area, see Calistoga homes for sale.

Year-round alternative: Oxbow Public Market

Oxbow Public Market at 610 and 644 First Street in Napa is an indoor food hall, not a farmers market. It is open daily from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and has a butcher, cheese, bakeries, coffee and places to eat. It is useful on days when the outdoor markets are closed.

What is in season

Season What to look for
Spring Asparagus, peas, strawberries, greens, spring onions
Summer Stone fruit, berries, tomatoes, peppers, corn, melons, summer squash
Fall Apples, pears, figs, grapes, winter squash, peppers, late tomatoes
Winter Citrus, kale, chard, root vegetables, cabbage, mushrooms

Crops and timing depend on the year. Ask the farmers what is coming next week.

Tips for a good market morning

  1. Go early. The best fruit and bread sell first.
  2. Bring cash and a card. Most vendors take cards, but small bills speed things up.
  3. Bring your own bags and a cooler if you plan to keep driving.
  4. Walk the whole market first, then buy. Prices and quality vary by stall.
  5. Ask questions. Farmers will tell you how to store and cook what they grow.
  6. Check that it is certified. California certifies farmers markets so that produce is sold by the people who grew it.
