By Matthew Martinez, Founder, CEO & Managing Broker, Diamond Real Estate Group. California DRE #01869679.
Sonoma County has four Michelin-starred restaurants in the 2026 California guide, with eight stars in total. SingleThread in Healdsburg and Enclos in Sonoma hold three stars each, and Cyrus in Geyserville and Troubadour in Healdsburg hold one star each. Six more Sonoma County restaurants hold a Bib Gourmand for good food at moderate prices.
Michelin announced the 2026 California stars on June 24, 2026. Enclos moved up from two stars to three, and Troubadour earned its first star. With eight stars to Napa County’s six, Sonoma County now has more Michelin stars than its better-known neighbor.
Below is the full list, what each restaurant is like, how to book, and what living near these restaurants looks like if you are thinking about buying here.

About the starred restaurants
Enclos, Sonoma (three stars)
Enclos opened in December 2024 in a renovated 1880s Victorian house on East Napa Street, a short walk from the Sonoma Plaza. Chef Brian Limoges leads the kitchen, and the restaurant is connected to Stone Edge Farm Estate Vineyards & Winery. Michelin’s inspectors called it “a respectful retooling of a late 1800s Victorian structure in downtown Sonoma.” It earned two stars in its first guide in 2025 and three in 2026. Enclos lists its hours as Wednesday through Saturday, with reservations through Tock.
SingleThread, Healdsburg (three stars)
SingleThread is a restaurant and five-room inn on North Street in downtown Healdsburg. Its tasting menu draws on its own 24-acre farm in the Dry Creek Valley. Restaurant reservations are made through OpenTable, and bookings for the following month open on the first of each month at 9 a.m. Pacific.
Cyrus, Geyserville (one star)
Cyrus sits on Highway 128 in the Alexander Valley, north of Healdsburg. Its tasting menu moves guests through several rooms over the evening, from a lounge to a kitchen table to a dining room overlooking the vineyards. Reservations open on Tock on the first of each month, two months ahead.
Troubadour, Healdsburg (one star)
Troubadour, run by Melissa and Sean McGaughey, is a bakery and sandwich shop by day. At night it serves a tasting menu that Michelin’s inspectors said “highlights Californian ingredients with flair and technical precision.” Its new star in 2026 gives Healdsburg two starred restaurants.
Bib Gourmand restaurants in Sonoma County
Michelin’s Bib Gourmand recognizes good food at a moderate price. These are often the easier places to book for a weeknight dinner. In 2026, six Sonoma County restaurants hold the award:
- El Molino Central, Sonoma
- Glen Ellen Star, Glen Ellen
- Khom Loi, Sebastopol
- Ramen Gaijin, Sebastopol
- Stockhome, Petaluma
- Valley Bar + Bottle, Sonoma
Napa Valley’s starred restaurants, for comparison
In Napa County, The French Laundry in Yountville kept its three stars, and Press in St. Helena, Auberge du Soleil in Rutherford and Auro in Calistoga each kept one star. That is six stars in total. The two valleys are close enough that residents of either can dine in both. For the Napa side, see our post on Michelin restaurants in Napa Valley and our guide to what life is like in Napa.
Where great food meets walkable living
Healdsburg
Healdsburg is a small town with two starred restaurants. SingleThread is a short walk from the town plaza, which is ringed by tasting rooms, shops and other restaurants. For buyers, the walkable core around the plaza is a large part of the town’s appeal, and homes within walking distance tend to be in short supply. See Healdsburg homes for sale.
Sonoma
The City of Sonoma has Enclos and two Bib Gourmands, El Molino Central and Valley Bar + Bottle. The center of town is the Plaza, about eight acres laid out by General Mariano Vallejo in 1835 and designated a National Historic Landmark in 1961 (City of Sonoma). If walking to dinner matters to you, focus on the blocks around the Plaza. See our guide to historic homes near the Sonoma Plaza and current homes for sale in Sonoma.
Glen Ellen, Sebastopol and Geyserville
Glen Ellen Star anchors the small downtown of Glen Ellen. Sebastopol has two Bib Gourmands in a west county town known for orchards and small farms. Geyserville is rural Alexander Valley, where Cyrus sits among vineyards. Each offers a different trade-off between dining access, price and land.
Why dining matters when you buy
For buyers choosing between an in-town home and a rural property, restaurant access is part of the lifestyle decision. Being able to walk to dinner often comes with a smaller lot and more visitors. Rural buyers trade spontaneous dinners for privacy, views and acreage. Before you decide, spend a full day in the area you are considering: coffee, a grocery run, lunch, a walk, dinner and the drive home. It tells you quickly which way you lean.
Food beyond the stars
Much of the county’s food culture lives on its farms and at its wineries, not in tasting menus. Sonoma County has more than 425 wineries, according to Sonoma County Tourism. In Sonoma, the Sonoma Valley Certified Farmers Market runs year-round on Friday mornings, and the city hosts a seasonal Tuesday night market on the Plaza.
Tips for visitors and new residents
- Book starred restaurants as soon as reservations open; tasting menus sell out.
- Bib Gourmand restaurants are usually easier for a weeknight dinner.
- Check hours on each restaurant’s own site, since many close several days a week.
- Summer weekends and harvest season, roughly August through October, are the busiest.
