Best Realtors in Antioch, CA (2026 Guide)
By Matthew Martinez
Antioch is an East Contra Costa County city of about 119,000 people on the San Joaquin River, with an older riverfront downtown, large postwar and newer subdivisions, and an eBART station at Hillcrest. It also has its own rent stabilization and rental inspection rules, so the agent you hire should understand both owner-occupant and investor purchases.
This guide is published by Diamond Real Estate Group, one of the brokerages listed. Our broker is listed first; other agents are in alphabetical order. The order is not a ranking, and inclusion is not an endorsement.
How we chose the agents in this guide
Each agent below met three checks in October 2026:
- A current California license. We opened each agent’s record on the California Department of Real Estate (DRE) public lookup and confirmed the name, license type (salesperson or broker) and "Licensed" status with a responsible broker. One agent whose DRE affiliation did not match their brokerage profile was left out.
- A named brokerage. Each agent’s DRE record shows the brokerage they work under.
- A public profile tied to Antioch. We opened each agent’s brokerage profile and confirmed it names Antioch, an Antioch office, or Contra Costa County.
We did not rank agents, and we did not consider sales volume, reviews or awards. Licenses and affiliations change, so verify the license yourself before you sign anything, and interview more than one agent.

Antioch’s median owner-occupied value is well below the Bay Area core, and its mean commute of 42 minutes reflects how many residents work farther west. With more than a third of homes renter-occupied, investors are active buyers. These are five-year survey figures, not current sale prices; ask an agent for recent sales from the same neighborhood and property type.
Downtown, the Hillcrest station area and Antioch’s subdivisions
Antioch’s older core sits along the river, where the city’s Downtown Specific Plan (2018) guides land use and design. To the east, the Hillcrest Station Area Specific Plan (2009) covers the area around the eBART station. Much of the rest of the city is postwar and late 20th century tract housing, with newer subdivisions to the south and southeast.

Costs and rules specific to an Antioch purchase
- Transfer tax. The Contra Costa County Clerk-Recorder charges $0.55 per $500 of value and lists added city taxes only for El Cerrito and Richmond, not Antioch. On a $630,000 sale, the county tax is about $693. Confirm the total with escrow, and see our California transfer tax guide for who usually pays.
- Rent stabilization. Antioch is on the Attorney General’s list of cities with local rent caps. Its rent stabilization chapter requires covered units to be registered, and the city also has tenant eviction protections. If you are buying a rental or a home with tenants, ask which rules apply. See our Antioch multifamily guide.
- Rental inspections. The city runs a rental dwelling unit maintenance and inspection program, which can surface repair items for landlords.
- HOAs and special taxes. Many newer subdivisions have associations or special tax districts. Sellers must make a good-faith effort to provide a notice of special tax districts under Civil Code section 1102.6b; review the tax bill’s direct charges in escrow.
- Hazard disclosures. The natural hazard disclosure report summarizes mapped fire, earthquake and flood hazards. Hillside areas toward the south may carry Fire Hazard Severity Zone designations, and you can check flood status on the FEMA Flood Map Service Center.

How to vet an Antioch agent
- Ask whether the home is subject to rent rules. If you are buying a rental or a home with tenants, a good Antioch agent should explain whether rent stabilization, registration and eviction rules apply.
- Ask about HOA and special tax costs. Newer subdivisions can carry association dues and special taxes; ask how they check the total monthly cost.
- Ask how they check permit history. Garage conversions, patios and additions are common; ask how they confirm permits and finals.
- Ask about commute and transit. Ask how a home’s location affects the drive and access to the Hillcrest eBART station.
- Ask for comparables from the same setting. A downtown cottage, a 1970s tract home and a newer southeast Antioch home should not be priced from the same sales.
- Verify the license yourself. Look the agent up on the DRE site and confirm the responsible broker matches the brokerage they name.
Antioch questions we hear
Does Antioch have its own transfer tax?
The Contra Costa County Clerk-Recorder lists added city taxes only for El Cerrito and Richmond, so the county tax of $0.55 per $500 is the rate it shows for an Antioch sale. Confirm the total on your escrow estimate.
Does Antioch have rent control?
Yes, for covered units. Antioch appears on the Attorney General’s list of cities with local rent caps, and its rent stabilization chapter requires registration. Ask the city which units are covered.
Do Antioch landlords need rental inspections?
The city’s rental dwelling unit maintenance and inspection program applies to rental units. Ask the city how it applies to a specific property.
Is Bay Point part of Antioch?
No. Bay Point is an unincorporated community west of Pittsburg, governed by Contra Costa County. See our Bay Point agents guide.
Should I interview more than one Antioch agent?
Yes. Interview at least two or three, ask each for recent sales near the homes you are considering, and compare how they explain HOA, rent rule and permit questions.
