Antelope is an unincorporated community of about 48,000 people in northern Sacramento County, between North Highlands, Citrus Heights and the Placer County line near Roseville. It is mostly suburban single-family neighborhoods, and because it has no city government, Sacramento County sets its zoning, permits and short-term rental rules.

This guide is published by Diamond Real Estate Group, one of the brokerages listed. Our broker is listed first; other agents are in alphabetical order. The order is not a ranking, and inclusion is not an endorsement.

How we chose the agents in this guide

Each agent below met three checks in October 2026:

  1. A current California license. We opened each agent’s record on the California Department of Real Estate (DRE) public lookup and confirmed the name, license type (salesperson or broker) and a "Licensed" status, with a responsible broker that matches the brokerage on the agent’s profile.
  2. A named brokerage. Each agent’s DRE record shows the brokerage they work under.
  3. A public page that names the area. Each agent’s brokerage profile names Antelope, a neighboring community, or Sacramento County.

Few agent profiles name Antelope itself. One agent below names Antelope, one names neighboring Citrus Heights and Foothill Farms, and four name Sacramento County. We say which in the table, so you can ask each agent about their recent Antelope sales.

We did not rank agents, and we did not consider sales volume, reviews or awards. Licenses and affiliations change, so check the license yourself before you sign anything, and interview more than one agent.

Census Reporter puts Antelope’s median owner-occupied value at about 80 percent of the Sacramento-Roseville-Folsom metro figure of $589,500, while median household income is about the same as the metro’s. Households are larger than the metro average, at about 3.2 people. These are survey estimates of the existing housing stock, not current sale prices; ask any agent for recent sales in the specific subdivision.

Suburban neighborhoods next to Roseville and Citrus Heights

Antelope sits just south of the Placer County line, so many buyers compare it with Roseville, Citrus Heights and North Highlands. Because the community is unincorporated, a "Sacramento" or "Antelope" mailing address still falls under County planning, building and code rules. Ask whether the subdivision has an HOA or any special tax before you compare monthly costs. For an overview, see our Antelope real estate guide and our neighborhood comparison notes.

Costs and rules specific to an Antelope purchase

  • Transfer tax. The Sacramento County Clerk-Recorder charges documentary transfer tax of $0.55 per $500 of value and says the City of Sacramento is the only city in the county with its own transfer tax. Antelope is outside the City, so only the County tax applies: about $539 on a $489,800 sale. Our California transfer tax guide explains who usually pays.
  • Short-term rentals. The County’s short-term rental permit page requires a permit, a County business license and transient occupancy tax registration in the unincorporated area, with the owner or a long-term renter living on site at least six months a year and stays capped at 29 days.
  • HOA dues and special taxes. Ask for any association budget, rules and special tax amounts, and read the disclosures. See our association and assessment costs page.
  • Hazards and insurance. Look up the address on the State Fire Marshal’s Fire Hazard Severity Zone maps, check flood exposure near creeks, read the natural hazard disclosure report and get an insurance quote early.

How to vet an Antelope agent

  1. Ask for recent Antelope sales. Most agents here name the wider county; ask how many Antelope homes they have sold or listed recently.
  2. Compare with Roseville and Citrus Heights. Ask how taxes, HOA dues and school boundaries differ across the county line.
  3. Have the agent pull HOA and special tax figures. Compare total monthly cost, not just price.
  4. Confirm County permits. For additions, solar or a second unit, ask for County permit records.
  5. Plan rentals around County rules. Short-term rentals must be hosted; check the rules before counting on rental income.
  6. Check the license yourself. Confirm a "Licensed" status with a current responsible broker on the DRE lookup.

Antelope questions we hear

Is Antelope part of the City of Sacramento?

No. Antelope is unincorporated, so Sacramento County handles zoning and permits, and the City of Sacramento’s added transfer tax does not apply.

What is the median home value in Antelope?

Census estimates put the median owner-occupied value at about $489,800 for 2020–2024. Ask an agent for recent sales of similar homes.

Why do most agents in this guide name Sacramento County rather than Antelope?

Few public agent profiles list Antelope by name. We included agents whose profiles name the county or a neighboring community and said so in the table; ask each about their Antelope experience.

Can I run a vacation rental in Antelope?

Only as a hosted rental with a County permit; the owner or a long-term renter must live on site at least six months a year.
