Napa Valley has four Michelin-starred restaurants in the 2026 MICHELIN Guide: The French Laundry in Yountville with three stars, and Auberge du Soleil in Rutherford, Auro in Calistoga and Press in St. Helena with one star each. Kenzo in downtown Napa lost its star in 2026. Ciccio in Yountville holds a Bib Gourmand.

Michelin announced its 2026 California selections on June 24, 2026. Napa County finished with six stars in total. For the first time, neighboring Sonoma County came out ahead, with eight stars, after Enclos in Sonoma rose to three stars and Troubadour in Healdsburg earned its first.

Here is what each Napa restaurant offers, how Michelin’s ratings work, and a few planning tips from a local.

Napa Valley Michelin restaurants at a glance

Restaurant Town 2026 distinction Cuisine (per Michelin)
The French Laundry Yountville Three stars Contemporary, French
The Restaurant at Auberge du Soleil Rutherford One star Californian
Auro Calistoga One star Contemporary, French
Press St. Helena One star Modern cuisine
Ciccio Yountville Bib Gourmand Italian, pizza

The French Laundry, Yountville (three stars)

Thomas Keller’s restaurant on Washington Street remains Napa Valley’s only three-star restaurant, a level Michelin describes as exceptional cuisine. Expect a long tasting menu built around French technique and Napa produce, and a deep wine list. Reservations are made through Tock and are hard to get, so plan well ahead and watch for cancellations.

Yountville is compact and walkable, which makes it easy to pair dinner with a stroll or a stay. See Yountville homes and real estate.

Auberge du Soleil, Rutherford (one star)

The restaurant at Auberge du Soleil sits on Rutherford Hill Road above the valley floor, with a terrace that looks across the vineyards. Executive Chef Robert Curry leads a Californian kitchen built on seasonal ingredients. Unlike most starred restaurants in the valley, it serves both lunch and dinner, which makes a midday visit an option.

Rutherford is small and mostly vineyard. Browse Rutherford real estate.

Auro, Calistoga (one star)

Auro is the fine-dining restaurant at the Four Seasons Resort and Residences Napa Valley on the Silverado Trail. Guests walk through the more casual Truss to reach a dining room beside a glass-walled kitchen. Michelin describes the cooking as contemporary French with a Californian outlook and a clear Mexican influence, with some produce from on-site gardens. It serves dinner Wednesday through Saturday; book through OpenTable.

Calistoga, at the north end of the valley, is known for hot springs and a slower pace. See Calistoga homes for sale.

Press, St. Helena (one star)

Press is a dinner restaurant in St. Helena, with a grand dining room and fireplace. Michelin calls the cooking contemporary Californian, built on top-quality ingredients, and highlights its Napa-focused wine program. Press handles its own bookings, so contact the restaurant directly.

St. Helena is a walkable small town at the heart of the valley. Explore St. Helena real estate.

Kenzo and the Bib Gourmand pick

Kenzo, the Japanese restaurant in downtown Napa run by Kenzo and Natsuko Tsujimoto, lost its star in the 2026 guide after holding it for eight straight years, according to the Napa Valley Register.

Ciccio in Yountville holds a 2026 Bib Gourmand, Michelin’s label for good quality, good value cooking. It is a casual Italian spot with a front porch, shared plates and pizza, and it works well for groups.

Michelin’s website also lists other Napa restaurants without a star, including Bouchon in Yountville and The Charter Oak in St. Helena.

Ratings and planning tips

How Michelin ratings work

  • Three stars: exceptional cuisine.
  • Two stars: excellent cooking.
  • One star: high quality cooking.
  • Bib Gourmand: good quality, good value cooking.
  • Selected restaurants: places the inspectors recommend without a star or Bib.

Michelin inspectors visit anonymously and update the California guide once a year, so the list can change. Check the guide before you plan a trip around a rating.

Planning a visit

  • Book early, and note each restaurant’s booking platform: Tock, OpenTable or direct.
  • Confirm current hours and days. Several of these restaurants close one or more days a week.
  • Plan your ride. The valley’s main roads are two-lane, and wine pairings add up.
  • Combine a lunch at Auberge du Soleil with winery visits. Our guide to Napa Valley wineries can help.
